Lav questions ... again ...

Hey, I've really enjoyed the 14 page post on shotguns. I need some help with Lavs. today.

I have 3 G2 (one's for sale if you need one) with the ME2's and 2 Sony 77b's. I need to lighten my equipment load and refine it a bit for my new life.

Anyway, could I / should I get 2 B6's to replace the ME2's? I need something with the best sound I can for the Senn. kits. Also can I buy XLR adapters for the B6's to make them wired ? That would be cool.

Thanks for reading this far ...

i get all my audio stuff now a days from gotham sound.

they can put custom plugs on a lot of lavs to make it work with wireless gear.

i just ordered a sanken cos-11 lav from them.

they made me some nice custom cables to go between my sd-302 and my sd-744t

plus i got some super nice cables from mattinstl to complete the custom setup i have right now.

isn't that sort of what i said?

i figured referring him to a reputable pro shop who can give him specifics was better than saying it could absolutely be done when i don't know for a fact that every lavalier ever made can be modified to work with any wireless system ever made...

i'm pretty happy with my sennheiser wireless. i have both the g2 and the earlier 500 evolution system.

the plug on transmitter is the best part...i use that with ANY xlr mic including ones that need phantom power.

on the newer plug on transmitter they did away with the phantom power unless you ge the twice as expensive one.

as long the tx can give minimum bias to power the mic it is possible
you have to work allitle bit in hot countries to go down from the idea working with butt plug and xlr for hiding the transmitter
waist of energy 2 ( extra quoter watt per hour)

( not bad for nymphomaniac girls when you place it on inside the leg :-))
and yes i said it might done whit every lavaliere make it work with direct bias (tx ) or phantom power adapter , you other hand sad that Gotham can put plugs for every tx without say if it phantom or battery powered lavalieres or pig tails .
aditional you statement you ordered allot of stuff and that they can make cable to your other gear - what are you working for them or what :-)
say Peter hello from from Oleg :-)

b6 - good. you'll need to buy the hardwired version, and get a breaker inserted with the mini-jack plugs for the g2. you need to be REALLY careful with the wiring, because all different mics will wire up differently for all different TXs.

I think countryman have a page at their site with wiring specifics for the B6 and popular transmitters - but get a pro shop to do it.

Or just get Countryman to do it, or just buy the mic from them already wired. I know that Trew and Coffey only buy pig-tailed versions and then wire them themselves...but I was actually not overwhelmingly happy with the way my mics were wired...the plug they used was huge at the wire end, and they didn't do anything to wrap it...so in my mics went to countryman and now they're beautiful. ;-)

be careful with b-6 , you have to be grounded during wiring since you can damage the mic - for b-6 better not to do mistakes :-)

Go figure - I bought a Countryman EMW for the G2 earlier this year. Drop-shipped from countryman & didn't work (somehow miswired). Returned it & bought one from Trew. Same connector(they buy them from Sennheiser) and it worked perfectly. Guess everyone has bad days.

This is one of the few times I'm really lucky...Countryman is based about 5 minutes from my house here in NorCal. So I just popped in and dropped them off and picked them up. No shipping is a good thing. ;-)

I just sent back two B6 mics to Countryman from the UK to have lecto connectors put on them. They only charge $30 each plus postage. i took the mics along to my local place and they took one look and didn't want to know.
