Lav micing question?

What's the best way to mic a man in a suit. Unless I get lucky and can keep it outside without being seeing, I have been placing it under the tie where there is often a gap between tie and shirt. (through the 2nd button hole about 3-4 inches below the Adam's apple) Also, does anyone make a tie clip that is actually a microphone in disguise...that would be ideal.

A common method (if you need to hide it) is to put it in the knot of the tie.

Yep, the tie knot is a great hiding place - you can tape the wire down the tie and bring it in through the shirt either at the top or bottom. If they're wearing a jacket you don't even need to take it under the shirt - just drop the tx in the jacket pocket.

I'm not sure if they make something for this, but the button/pin mic from Ricsonix could probably be adapted to work with a tie clip or tie pin of some sort.
