Lav mic placement on a t-shirt

I have a shoot coming up with Tony Hawk which I am excited about. It is a sit down interview. I will have a shotgun boomed and I will place a hardwired lav on him but I realized he might come in wearing a t-shirt. Do you place the mic inside the top collar of the shirt? The mic can show it doesn't have to be invisible but I am wondering without collars and buttons where is the best place to place the lav withot it being so obvious. Thanks

You can try the pinch. Just pinch a part of the shirt and put the clip in it. It's kinda haggard, but I've seen it around quite abit. Tony Hawk? How did you manage that? That's badass.

Figure out your frame-line (the bottom) and mount the lav directly on the shirt outside of the shot. If he's wearing a hat or sunglasses there are more options. Getting the lav away from clothing is the best bet. If the lav must be hidden it can go in the valley of the chest, but I'm not sure if Hawk would be hip with that... and if he's got chest hair then it's a bad idea anyway.

If it's a sit down interview then the boom should be the preferred mic.

That's a nice get... be sure you get some footage for your reel if possible. My biggest celebs left on the tape, that left with the producer, at the end of all my best gigs. Hopefully you can get some of that footy.
