lav mic not working

Greetings.

I have a couple of Sony lav mics with mini-plugs (3.5mm) on them and I've got a Rode XLR/mini-plug adapter. I set up the mic with this adapter but can't get any sound. When I plug my AT-897 in the same line I get sound. I tried the phantom power switch - nothing. I know the Sony mic works because it's fine with another camera.

Any ideas or hints on this would be greatly appreciated.

Your lav needs bias power, not phantom. You will need a seperate power supply or adaptor to make them work.

Thanks for the reply. The mics come with a small battery powered unit. I don't know if this is bias power, but even with this little unit in between the camera and the mic I get nothing.
