Lav help

I have a audio Technica At897 shotgun mic and I need two good wireless lavs to compliment the shotgun for a couple upcoming films that I'm doing. Wondering if anyone has any advice on a good set of Lavs.

I'm looking at the Sennheiser EW100G2, which seems to be very well regarded.

I have a Countryman wired lav that requires phantom power. Alas, my DVX phantom power has crapped out (blown fuse).

The Sennheiser 100/500 G2 combo kit includes a SKP500 Plug-In Transmitter which (if I understand correctly) delivers phantom power, allowing ANY microphone with XLR input to become a wireless mic.

What's your budget range? It's tough to find anything usable under maybe $500 each, and Lectrosonics systems are around $2500, so -- how good do you need?

For low-end good, the Sennheiser G2 system and AT101 are decent and inexpensive.

My price range is about $800-$1200 yet I might be able to throw more money in that direction if its going to make a measurable difference.

Already posted this in another thread but in March you will be able to get digital (hybrid) wireless for $1700 with the LM/401 combo. For the quality (IMHO) it is well worth the the price difference from the G2. I have already sold off my 200's in anticipation.

For a couple years now Lectro have been overpriced considering the competition offered above and below them. Lectro is finally compacting their line and has become worthy of considering in the ENG price range (for price vs quality).

Cheers

Ive done a lot of research on this lately, and to me it looks like the choice is:

G2

or

Lectro 400s.

Plus - get good lavs. Tne G2 comes with crummy ones, replace with Countrymans.

Similar G2 dilemma

Similar G2 dilemma

Within the next few weeks I need to purchase 4 wireless setups. I've decided on the sennheisers, but I'm unclear on the frequency range I should be purchasing. I will be traveling around the country , so there is no clear range, whether it be A,B, or C that I should go with. Does it make sense to purchase 1 system in each range? Are there or will there be any anticipated downfalls to this approach? Also, is there any advantage of going with the 500 series, other than the phantomed power plug? Is it worth the price difference?
Thanks
John

Go with the G2

Go with the G2

For the money, I highly recommend the SenheisserG2 system. I have four good Lectrosonics 190 series wireless mic combos for my regular sound kit which I use with my bigger Betacam, but I also bought a pair of the G2s to dedicate to my little DVX100a. They are frequency agile which means you really don't need to worry about the freqs as you travel. If there's interference, just switch to a different one. There are plenty to choose from with the G2 set-up.
