LAV Color Choice

Hi,

I think I am about to pull the trigger on 2 lavs from OST. I know at some point I want to do a short which involves a wedding dress. So I am thinking a black one and a white one. What colors are the most flexible? There is also tan and gray. If I had more more money I guess I could get one of each but I can swing only 2.

There are some accessories that I could buy like a black windscreen which would help me a bit with the white one. I have always seen lavs in black. So any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks for your time.

A while ago, I worked on a PBS cooking show, and had production buy white Trams which blended in with the chef's uniforms perfectly. But this was a continuing series. All my personal lavs are black and usually hidden under clothes. Depends on your projects.

When it's under clothing, it doesn't really matter. Black is the most common and can also be hidden in shadows and folds even if the clothes aren't very dark. After that, the most useful is probably tan, since it can be used with thin clothing. People doing shows with chefs, doctors, weddings etc often have one or two white lavs since they can be put out in the open and almost disappear.

You can also use a sharpie or similar pen to color it - search for it on jwsoundgroup.
