My old internet box is goin south slowly. The swithches and mini type gibberish are all failing. I can get new switches easy enough but I'm sick of looking at the tower anyway. Sooooo....Here's the punch line, I'm gonna build this internet box right into the desk. I've sat here in my chair for the last few minutes and worked out all the logistics and I think it is doable. So my question to you is. What problems would you foresee in this opperation that I may have overlooked? Hurry now....I got the drill out!

Internet box is the box I use to go online, that's its only function. I'm on Vacation ;D

I’m gonna make it into somebododies book of world records…I’m gonna build this computer right into the desk without powering down, that’s right folks I’m gonna stay online hardwired to DVXuser.com whilst I perform the surgery….Hmmmm….then I’m gonna hide my crak pipe so well I never find it again…

Yep.

And fitting the motherboard, since it pretty much has to stay motherboard-shaped and -sized.

Somewhere in the distant past I saw a desk with the monitor sunk into the top. That's taking the "desktop" idea a little far, I think.

Can I ask a dumb question Mino? [Not as dumb as yours though ;) ]

What is the point to not using a case? You can buy them for $30 - Not to mention all the extra work from not using one ... What am I missing dude? ???

The Challenge...Actually I found an old Aptiva next to the dumpster when I took the garbage out and I'm looking at it as an alternative. There is'nt a lot of room inside to upgrade and a lot of it looks proprietory but hey, it might be coaxed into the job ;)

I have a 1992 Silicon Graphics fully loaded unit - Original value $22,000 USD - Today... I would have to pay to dispose of it. >:(
