Lars and the real girl

Has anyone seen this film yet? I saw it this weekend and even though I found it a little far fetched towards the middle/end I enjoyed it (It could have been much more if they went another direction though). It has a certain touch of Philip Kaufmanism to it. And of course, Ryan Gosling carries the film on it's back. I loved the score too.

'Philip Kaufmanism'? You mean Charlie Kaufman, or Phillip Seymour Hoffman? Either way, the flick did have a toned-down sense of Kaufman-esque hyper-reality. Very toned-down.

I agree that Gosling's performance made the movie. Without him, it would've been another so-so execution of an interesting concept. Glad to see he's not going the teen-heartthrob route after The Notebook.

Same here. I found the first 30 minutes really awkward, but then I got into it and the last half was brilliant.

I worked at the indie theater when this film came through, i was lucky enough to screen it the night before it came out. I loved it so much, so beautiful and david torn ceases to amaze me. i snagged the poster once it finally left.

But the acting from Emily Mortimer was...idk that scene where her voice is cracking and she's scream/crying to Lars "We do it for you lars! we do it for you!"

she was still good never the less. Awesome movie!

I just wish Bianca got nominated for "Best Actress"..haha
