I have recently moved from an XL-1 to a DVX100A.
I noticed my file sizes are quite a bit larger from the XL-1. I shoot in 24p normal and was curious if the files are larger due to better resolution alone, or more likely, is the "conversion" in 24p normal introducing this larger file size (I remember hearing something like the camera is "doubling" frames to preserve the "look" of 24p in 29.97)? Will I still be able to fit 60 mins on a general DVD-R?
I use a bitrate of about 8 in MPEG-2 which I know is high - how low can one go before seeing quality reduction? Ah, age old question.
Thanks
P.S. In FCP 3.0.4 can one increase audio levels greater than 12db? I noticed it defaults to this number if you type in a higher db.
