A quick question to the more experienced ones out there, even though I think I know the answer.
I have a shoot in a very large indoor space. Its a indoor pool/gym. So that rules out sound blanketing surfaces to fix the verb. Ive been there before its as you would expect it tons of reverb/echo lots of unwanted soudns going on with people training ect.. The shoot calls for a doc style interview feel (i believe.) Now as a fairly experienced but still young mixer I know that my NTG-2 (currently my main mic) will not nessicarily be the most ideal mic for this indoor reverberant situation. My other options in my kit are a couple of AT lavs (one omni and one card) or simply cheap directional condensor mics with switchable patterns (Apex and some ntg knock off with a polar pattern switch) sometimes I have felt that using the Apex indoors set on cardioid sounds better than the NTG2 because its less "shotgunny" but usualy the ntg2 sounds a whole lot better. I do not have an oktava yet but I am thinking I should perhaps rent one for this shoot in order to try it out and see what I am missing. I can not purchase one this quickly as they called on me short notice and the shoot is in 2 days.
Anyways, what do you guys think. Will the NTG-2 Be ok in large indoor spaces or will it still butcher everything with the funny pick up of verb. I will be using lavs as a backup if possible but as far as i know the talent will be wearing nothing but swimtrunks. Any suggestions / guidance is appriciated. Cheers
