Anyone know the best way of linking ones laptop(apple powerbook) to the TV?
Want to look at some footage from fcp.
Tried going out through the s-video port + audio out to tv...but got nothing.

S-video shoudl work but I understand there have been problems with latest FCP and s-video.
Make sure after connecting the TV to go to the displays control and doing a detect displays. You shoudl see your desktop on the tv. Now try playing back by dragging canvas over to the TV display. Note that audio will require earphone output split to RCA plugs into TV.
I haven't tried S-video for FCP output, but you should know that the TV will act as a second display -- it will NOT automatically display video like an active FireWire AVC device (but the audio should work).
In FCP HD, there is a new "desktop cinema" option, but when I tried it, the video came out corrupted on my second display. Your mileage may vary; it couldn't hurt to try.
Personally, I connect my DV camcorder to a TV (I like to call it my "monitor" ... but now you know the truth ). When I scrub the timeline or play rendered/RT-safe video, I can also see the results on the TV for color correction and output preview.

Does anyone know if this standard firewire to camera to tv method works for a 24p timeline?
