Laptop or Desktop?

Wanting some opinions and advice. I am soon to purchase/upgrade my computer system and I am wanting to go with a laptop or desktop. I will be runnig final cut. Does anyone have any experience or stories in editing on a mac power book versus a desktop?
 
If I had to buy an editing system/surfing the net computer right now, i'd get laptop over a desktop, a macbook pro. I got a dual 1.8ghz G5 tower in spring of 2004, i love it, i got it because of speed, upgradeablility, and video editing. But now you can get Macbook Pro's that are essentially faster and portable for the same price of what i paid on my setup. ($2500) And the MBP comes with 2gb of memory, mine only came with 512mb. I had to buy an extra gig for mine.
 
yeah, I am leaning towards a laptop but do not want to regret the decision while I am watching a progress bar creep across the screen.

It's dual core processor, so it's almost like having 2 processors.
You should be able to edit even in HD with no or little lag or slow rendering times.
 
I just bought a MBP a couple days ago. Havent tried HD with it or anything but it should work for whatever you want to do. Ordered extra RAM from Newegg, 75 bucks for a gig.
