Laptop for FCS2

I am one of those which does not enjoy validating ignorance but the announcement of Final Cut Studio2 has caused me to venture from the shadows . . . I have not owned an Apple since 1984.

My question: Is it likely that the current iteration of the MacBook Pro will be sufficient to operate FCS2 ?

( . . . back into hiding now), Thanks!

Absolutely.
I was running FCS 1 on a G4 Powerbook and currently on a MacBook Pro (CoreDuo).
I fully intend to load FCS 2.

Motion is the one app that may not give full real-time capability due to the RAM limitations on the notebooks (2 GB). My understanding is that Motion will use all the RAM you can give it.
I've been using Motion 2 on my current MacBook Pro and previously on the aforementioned Powerbook with no issues other than the need to render certain things before viewing them.

your performance will really depend on how much RAM you have and your GPU. Both Motion and Color are heavily GPU dependant, but should run pretty well on the current MBP's. The next revision of MBP's should be coming in the next couple months with updated GPUs (crossing fingers) and a newer chipset which will definitely be a pretty good boost in performance. If you need a laptop now, then buy it and FCS2 will be fine on it.
