Laptop dilemma

So here's my dilemma:

I have two more days left in Miami before flying back home to Amsterdam and I want to buy an Apple laptop (also for Final Cut Pro). The dollar is very very cheap compared to the Euro and I know that I'll save a lot of green if I buy a laptop with dollars.

So here it is:

I want to buy a Mac laptop (that can handle FCP, not necessarily HD) and I have 1500 bucks (1000 euro) to spend. I did some research and brought it down to these two final contestants:

+-1500 dollar - mac book 2.2 ghz 2gb 120gb 13inch
+-2000 dollar - mac book pro 2.2 ghz 2gb 120gb 15inch

I know that the Mac Book Pro has 2 more inches, and an illuminating keyboard.
And maybe some other tiny bits, titanium colored etc.. But is this really worth the extra 500 bucks? What is the Big difference between the best Macbook and the 'worst' Macbook Pro? Help! What should I do? And no I don't want a Macbook Air. Please help me !

MBP = Better graphics card and FW800. For my editing needs, those two alone are worth the extra money. ExpressCard expansion is nice as well, for P2 ingest with Duel Adapter and for adding an extra FW800 connection via card.

And while you may not be doing HD now, you might be sooner than you think.

Definitely go MacBook Pro. The 2 inches alone would make me buy it - for video stuff 13 inches just isn't enough.

Also it's not just 'titanium colored', it's built with solid aluminum. Just last night I had goo-gone all over my MBP trying to remove sticker residue - the thing is flat out TOUGH.

It's got more ports, faster firewire, and just overall better construction. Go pro.

I understand that some of the Final Cut Studio applications will not work on the MacBook at all because of the integrated graphics memory, and Apple does not officially support Final Cut Pro on the MacBook for the same reason. Apple's Final Cut web page says: "Final Cut Studio is not compatible with integrated Intel graphics processors." I believe some folks have been able to run some of the FCS 2 apps on MacBooks, but I would do some research on this before you buy one for FCP editing. Of course, you would have no worries getting the MacBook Pro for this purpose.

Happy shopping,
Kevin
