If you have ever had to mic someone beneath their clothing, and all they had was a T-Shirt, there really isn't anywhere to mount the mic unless it is to the backside of the shirt. If you use a tram, that can be a problem because the element would point right at their skin canceling out the mic.

Here is a cheap solution: Next time you are at the doctor's, ask him/her for a few spare EKG pads. If you use the Vampire clips that come with the Tram and many other mics, all you have to do is insert that into the pad, carefully, so as not have them stick out the back, and then stick the pad on the skin. Done!!

The little button on the EKG pad for the wire hookup can be used as a stand off. If you place the mic close enough to it, it can work to keep the clothing from rubbing up against the mic element. I found a few snaps that fit those buttons to give them some more height. It worked really really well.

If you go to occupational therapy, they have much of the same thing that they use for those units that pulse electricity through to your muscles. Those are even better because they are super thick.

You can buy these pads on-line for much cheaper that you can get the versions meant for tram mics. You don't need much material and they stick quite well. So feel free to cut them up a little smaller.

These pads tend to stick really well, even if the talent becomes sweaty or "Dewy"

Just dont re-use them, that crosses the line between creative and just being really cheap. It is also really gross!! Not to mention it probably isn't very safe from a medical standpoint.
