PLEASE HELP ME!

I'd like to assemble a good but not to expensive rig for my D7000 for a feature film shoot and I can't find my way out of the options.... I'm also confused because of the several different names and brands for the same or really similar chinese and korean products.....

In design what I really like is the Shane Hurblut MCS rig (http://www.letusdirect.com/cart/mcs-shoulder-cam-bundle.html) I like it as its small and rigid and gives plenty of options. I would like to come up with some similar solution... on a budget....

I am primarly interested in products that can be purchased within the European Union. I would like to get something good and useable within a good price... A good follow focus unit is a must. Matte box isn't but it's on my budget list, if I still have money I'd like to buy one.... So what dou think about these "brands"?

Lanparte
Wondlan
ProAim
Walimex Pro

thanks

since most rigs use the universal 15mm tube you can take the best of each and tailor your rig.
Lanparte has some great elements, like the handles (UG-02)

and the shoulder part with the power supply and hdmi splitter is great too

purchase long 15mm aluminum tubes and cut them at your size.

for the plate, if it is a DSLR you get many choices on the cheap side, depends how many features you need

then you can also add a top handle, external batterie or monitor, view finder , mattebox etc...

I do not like rigs with dozen of screws to set and protruding everywhere , but fact is if you want to have an universal rig that can fit all your needs, there is a lot of part that will need to be more complex than really required.
for example a simple bas plate can be ok until you need to add some matterbox or filter , requiring the camera to be higher.
or tubes have some threading to add extension , the day you need to fix a prompter or a ringlight.
My guess is if you get a great rig, it can easily survive several cameras, so it worth the investement, since we can bet that cameras will be smaller and smaller in the future.

Thanks!

This is why I'm thinking about buying a proper gear, even it costs more than I would like right now, but buying once is cheaper than buying twice... Actually as I compared from several dealers and several brands and certain setups the price difference between a lower quality but cheap and the little more expensive but higher quality is not that great for certain setups.

BTW; If you're going for a complete rig make sure to get in touch with a dealer; usually there's a hefty discount over buying them individually.
You could also get them shipped significantly quicker if it's with a proper seller and not a Chinese one on eBay doing the 40-day free delivery route.

what do you think about this seller? and this rig?

I'd like to get a matte box, but I think it's not that essential for me... its more for my eyes than for my film :)... so I think with this rig and FF I would be done for a while... later a matte box and thats it..

Why not go for "fotga" just search them on ebay, i'm sure you will like the price.

there is so many good review for "Fotga" product which be found via google or blog.

I think the model of handle you select is articulated using balls clamped, this is working great for a while, but usually it gets loose soon or later.
the model from lanparte i showed is using disks with tooth (rosetta lock), the same system you can find on handle for tripod.
Once it is screwed there is no way to move it.
from lanparte naming the one with balls is V1 ( UG-01) and the one with discs is V2 ( UG-02), so possibly V2 the improved version over V1 http://cdn.gollos.com/12344/Prod/1549066/lanparte-side-grip-2-dslr-rig-lock.jpg

for me it is obvious that the disc system is a lot better than the ball system

that is what makes some parts better than other.
-They should not rely on friction or bending parts
- They must use steel for critical parts.

That is why lots of cheap india rigs sucks, they are made of soft aluminium that does not stand the stress.
Mainly screw thread are just a joke and many small/thin piece are cracking.

In this regards, Tilta or Lanparte (same product) meet the highest quality for reasonable price.

If you want aluminium priced like gold, go to Zacuto....

Yeah, but that disc handle costs a lost... It's definetely out of my range. So either the basic handle or the V1 with the ball system from Lanparte.

I'm still considering the cheapo Kamerar rig, that I could get for 300 dollars.... First I would have to know what monitor/EVF I want and other costs of the gear and then I could decide.
