Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

On the site It says 35mm. Where did you hear it was shot with a DVX? It has some video shots, but the film doesn't look DVX. It looks 35mm.

Are you sure it was shot with the DVX?

All the best

Fidel.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Positive. On indigent.net which produced "Land of Plenty", it mentions a PAL DVX used. Of course, the film has been transferred to 35mm and professionally color corrected, so of course it'll look wonderful.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Wow man! I am impressed! I could tell some shots were video, but the majority just looked like film.

I was fooled! Mum, they made believe it was shot on film.

I looked at the trailer again and it looks more like 16mm.

I just love my DVX!

All the best

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

I think it looks GREAT! Amazing how well the DVX can look when it get behinds the hands of a real pro. I would love to see this movie the theater to see how it handles the big screen projection.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

that' footage does look great, it's great to see this work coming about, alway's something that' helps the non believers of this camera.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Happy to see the DVX in action on professional projects... looked good, what did you guys think of the movie?  The trailer didn't do much for me to convince me this is a movie to see.

Just checked out Wenders on imdb... he directed Million Dollar Hotel, one of the worst movies ever created... damn dvx, gonna make me watch some potentially bad flick just to see the damn camera in action... I am a geek... kinda like the time I rented K Street...

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Yeah, the movie doesnt look all to good :-/ But alas, I too am the geek for the DVX. Hell, I rented Pieces of April purely for the DV aspect and loved the film.

I bought full-frontal and I like the movie. Anyone seen it?

All the best

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

I enjoyed "Full Frontal", even if the only hatred I've heard from the film is by XL1s owners, bitching about the visual look. Same goes for "K Street" and not white balancing, which was shot with the DVX in 24p normal mode.

I have mixed feelings on Wenders...love his older work (especially "Wings of Desire"), but he hasn't impressed me in awhile. Greg Harrison and Nancy Schreiber used the DVX for "November" and "Groove" was the worst film I saw that year (Harrison's first film), though I'll see his newest to look at the DVX in action. Sheesh.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

I'm just saying what everyone else already has ;D

The movie doesn't look any good...but the DVX definitely does. I'm interested to see how it would hold up on a big screen - I've heard people's reviews of it, but I wanna see for myself!

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Yeah, I am only interested in how it holds out on the big screen, cause the movie seems to suck!

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

As far as I can tell, the film appears to be quite critical of the America of Today -- needless to say based on which leader and which cronies of this leader. Like every film, it's worth a look, so we'll see how it holds its weight. Also, how the images hold as well.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

I have just shown the trailer to my friend. The guy couldn't believe it was shot with the DVX.

I am very proud to own this baby.

All the best

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

I boosted this entire quote since it wasn't an artical, it was just a quick note from the MSNBC.com "Scoop" section...

"Also at the Venice Film Festival, famed filmmaker Wim Wenders was raising eyebrows with a film that has been described as a “parody of America’s war on terrorism.” The director of “Wings of Desire” premiered his new film, “Land of Plenty,” which is about a self-appointed homeland-security expert who investigates Arab-Americans and searches for stockpiles of weapons in Los Angeles. “I wanted to expose a certain reality and a climate that I sense today,” the German-born Wenders told Agence France Presse. “I didn’t want to judge Americans, because all over the world today Americans are ‘the ugly Americans,’ and that’s the least thing I wanted to convey because I love this country very much.” Wenders lives in Los Angeles."

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

wow the image is flat out amazing. it's all gritty. it was probably a straight copy from the film transfer-and not from dvx.

Re: Land of Plenty - shot with DVX

Has this movie been release on DVD in the states yet or is it still in theaters?
