Lamp Repalcement

Is there a good reason to pay mucho donari for replacement lamps for my 500-750 lights when I can pick them up for a song, verse really, at Home Depot.
Just had a look at "Sylvania" vs "Eye" and to my eye ,---I (sorry), can't tell the difference.
But maybe the camera can and if it's a big dif I'll buy the,--- er,----"Eye",----brand.

Easy test: shoot something (a plain white something might be best) with the "real" lamp, white balanced.

Then shoot with the cheapie - without changing the white balance.

Is it tinged bluish? Redish? Some other color?

That'll let you know how good a replacement it is. Ballpark, anyway.
