I have no idea why I listen to critics. If memory serves this film was panned and did poorly at the theaters, so I initially took a pass. I watched it this morning while nursing my hangover. Another knock out by the Coens! I thought it was a fantastic film, beautifully shot, well laid out, smoothe pacing, striking dialogue, superb acting and not a drop of unoriginality. If I had one small complaint it was the urban black kid, a totally played out stereotype that I'm bored with.

Great film, see it if you haven't.

I kinda liked it too. Still, I'd have to put it near the bottom of the Coen Bros filmography, not because it was bad, but beacause the Coens have sooooooo many great movies out there. ;)

Agreed, I think it's about a B+ for a Coen film, but in comparrison to most the films released this last year, it was an A+ by a mile.

I was hesitant to watch it after wasting 2 hours of my life watching Intolerable Cruelty, but I like this movie too. Far from there best though ;D The DUDE abides...

I walked away wanting to watch it again. Although i didn't really totally like the movie. It just had some nice colors and stuff that I liked and certain shots, like the bodies being dumped on the trash boat. It looked really good. The black kid was indeed a re-run. Marlan Wayans, I think. He played pretty much the same character in that one movie "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood".

I think all of Coen's products have been good with the exception of FARGO... which was a piece of trash

I seem to be the only person who hates this film... Everyone else loves it. I just don't get it... Usually my response is "I didn't like the film"... When it comes to Fargo and 25th Hour, i just say "Bad Film".

lol, i like fargo, 25th hours was pretty messy though, dont know many ppl who think its really good


any sry to change the subject, I just rented ladykillers now so i thought i'd read the thread
