Lacie SSD Thunderbolt vs Dual Enclosure with own selection of SSD for half the price

Hello Mac Owners,

I'm trying to decide between the Lacie Solid State Drive Thunderbolt
2 (1300+ Mega bytes per second) option vs HALF the price Dual Enclosure with my own selection of SSD drives
in Raid 0.

I was sold on the Lacie. I'm working on 4k video content and editing audio as well and was really looking forward to place an order today. 1tb of high speed goodness! :cheesy:

HOWEVER, just found out is actually only 512gb in RAID 0...

..which I can get for half a price choosing my own SSD drives and grab a
dual thunderbolt enclosure($254 at Monoprice as of 12/1/2014). Dual Bay Thunderbolt™ 2 Cactus Bridge Enclosure with

Except that I won't be getting
Thunderbolt 2 connectivity. But I think Thunderbolt 1 should be good enough with
10gb per second connection.

So why would I pay twice as much to have the
little Lacie one?

Some feedback on the Cactus Bridge unit
a) only achieve speeds of just under 400MB/sec, which is slower than another thunderbolt enclosure I have
b)
Slightly noisy fan, drive trays
c)
Annoyingly loud fan with variable speed whine
d) Bus-only power requires both Thunderbolt connection (no daisy-chain)

I'm still on FW800/USB2 so have no direct knowledge on TB.

I suspect there are better options out there; whenever I'm not sure I always contact OWC in the US and ask for clarification.
