LACIE DRIVE Won't Load

This sounds like the LaCie problem I've often warned about.... although some people report some general FireWire problems after upgrading OSX - have you upgraded right before the problem began?

If it's the LaCie problem, I found it would mount sporadically... so, if you want to get your data, go buy a different HD of same or higher capacity, plug it into a different firewire port (or USB2), keep restarting everything 10, 20 times if necessary until the F^#$^% LaCie mounts, then immediately start copying everything to the new drive... and hope the LaCie holds out that long.

What I have NOT tried is taking the actual drive out of the LaCie case and putting it in another, which may be easier....

i've found out that if you're firewire is connected to your deck and/or your camera, and your deck/camera is on before that, then it wont mount. try shutting off external firewires of any kind first.

After numerous attempts I couldn't mount a 600gb Lacie to my G5 either. I mounted a 250gb Lacie without any problems. I took the 600 to another G5 and it mounted. I then took it back to my G5 and it then mounted. Not sure of the logic behind this tactic but it worked.

It's worth mentioning that the 600 was partitioned in to six separate 100gb drives - this is the only element that I can think of that may have had a hand in the mounting problem.
