Im looking to label up my gear.

Could be everything from a Cstand or peli case, down to a lens or a tiny clamp or leatherman/Iphone

I guess three rolls of tape maybe 25mm, 10mm and 4mm with my name/number/e-mail could do the trick?

What about the super tough labels that hire shops use? any links

My mrs works for a hospital, her (staff) laptop has a really tough little label with asset ID?

You have a few options. You could use a stencil and spray paint or Sharpie Paint pens. You could use a P-touch label maker with the high-strength adhesive labels. Or you could go for a commercial anti-tamper label like this: http://www.myassettag.com/MAT/StealGuard-SecuriGuard-tamper-evident-asset-labels.aspx
Certain label makers and the commercial labels let you print bar codes on the label, so you can track the assets' location (like if you rented them out or had multiple productions at once.)
