La Linea Animation

I like this forum! That's what I call making film: faking things!

However, that's not what I wanted to say. Or ask.

The thing is the following:
I'm a Dutch 17-year-old boy who has a passion for making films and therefore I want to go to the Film Academy. To get them so far that they choose ME (only 12 out of 300 are chosen each year) I have to send in a spectacular film. Well, that's not yet the problem, I'm working on that, but for this film I want to use a short animation. And that's where it gets tricky...

I never made an animation, so I would ask you guys if someone could help me with it. The thing I want to create looks a lot like 'La Linea'. But with another 'adventure'.

Is that possible in After Effects par example? Can I do it myself you think? How? etc.
I hope that you can help me. Thanks anyway!

Why would you want to do something you don't know how to do for your reel for the film academy. I would personally stick to what you know. That is film making. Animation is a whole new thing unto it's own. You could do stop motion, the old fashioned way, which is probably what they did there. I would assume.

I would have no other ideas of how to do that using your standard NLE or compositing program.

Best of luck though.

La Linea may look simple, but animation is incredibly time intensive. Yes, people have done excellent animations using AE (although not in the La Linea style, that I know of), but this takes a lot of time and experience.

I agree with Mattykins - if you're trying to impress the Film Academy, you need to make a kick-ass film in whatever style you're best at, and the chances of you doing that with a first-time-ever animation are extremely low

Hey Guys, thanks for the responce.

I think one thing is not totally clear: The film I'll hand in is NOT an animation. I am making it right now. But at the end, int he lower half of the credits-screen, I want a short animation in La Linea-style.

Hm. I already was afraid it's too difficult to do it myself...
I now found the program 'ToonBoom', which is especially made for anmation. Does anyone work with this or something similar?

I know this is DVX-forum, and you don't need a camera when you're an animator, but you never know!
