KVM Over IP

I'm considering purchasing a KVM over IP solution. My ideal goal would be to be able to bring a laptop to starbucks and edit using the power of my desktop. I realize the max resolution of such devices max out at 1280x800 or something around there and that the max refresh rate is 60hz as well as the video being compressed.

I don't expect to get perfect video quality but I'd like to be able to get work done without being in the office.

Does anyone have any experience with KVM over IP? Is the WIFI at the typical starbucks type establishment too slow to stream the full resolution at a fluid refresh rate? What about simply from another bedroom over LAN using wireless G?

I'm also not sure how I would go about hearing audio..perhaps one of the KVM over IP solutions also includes audio over IP.

If you're on Windows, you can try Remote Desktop. I don't think any solution is going to give you the precision or detail that is required to edit video. If you want to edit remotely you need to have a better notebook

Remote desktop is going to use up the desktops resources...KVM will work independent of the system on the desktop end. I know I won't be able to edit with percision, just looking to find out if I will be able to achieve fluid video aand make simple edits and start renders and edit photos as well. Anyone use a KVM over ip?
