Kodak making new super 8 camera

Anyone else excited about a new super 8 camera. I'll pick one up especially if Kodak is going to support the processing and transfer.

I think it could be great. I find it ironic that Kodak was one of the late adopters of digital and now seems to be the first to heavily market a "new" product that uses the old super 8 technology.

I haven't ever used anything like it but if the processing is cheap or I can do it myself, it may be a great tool to have.

I would bet not. The Super 8 design has a pressure plate in the cartridge and just a shuttle in the camera gate. I doubt if Kodak is going to redesign the Super 8 film transport mech for a camera that is so cheap. Even the "Pro" Super 8 format, Double Super 8, which was 16mm film, with Super 8 sprocket holes, didnt have any cameras with pin registration. Those cameras, modified Cannon Scoopics and Bolex REX, just relied on pressure plates and film shuttles. Even in 16mm, outside of cameras by Arri, Mitchell, Acme and probably a few others, pin registration is rare to find. Super 8 film is noted to be remarkably steady, considering the design, but it does have an inherent amount of gate weave. Some consider this a part of the "Super 8 look".
