Kobe scores 81!!!!

Kobe is an awesome player, and a normal person, prone to stumble in this world. I am still a fan, even with his "baggage".

dang, that's a lotta points.

as for his character-

i'm not sure if my facts are straight but, Kobe is rich, 6'6", black, and did i mention rich?

some chick in CO gets lucky and then gets a little greedy. She said she was injured, but i mean, do i even have to say it?

she then decides to take him to civil trial and says any money she gets will go towards breast implants, a koala bear, and opening a recording studio. guys, she's a hoe.

it was wrong to cheat on his wife. but i doubt he had to rape anybody. if he was really desperate i'm sure he could pay for what he wanted.

Hey, Kobe's a prick for cheating on his wife but like the saying goes.... a guy is only as faithful as his options.
But back to Kobe the ballplayer.... did you hear the interview after the game where the reporter asks Kobe about MJ and Kobe goes "I don't want to talk about Michael", the reporter asks "why not". Then Kobe goes on to talk about MJ (saying that they are two completly different types of ballplayers). Priceless.
For a guy that says he tries to distance himself from the image of MJ he sure does emulate him. Nike contract, similar endorsements, exclusive Nike shoe and apparel line, heck he even sounds like mike. I'm surprised he's not wearing no.23.

Kobe was with addidas first. Nike started the private line with MJ but now everybody has one. Kobe definitely emmulated MJ early in his career, but he's come into his own as a player (Mike never dropped 81).

Mike never dropped 81; don't insult Mike for a second by trying to compare the two. That's poo poo'ing comical.

People bash Kobe because he is a *****.

He has talent. He is one of the best playing the game today (not ever) but he'll never be Jordan, Bird or Magic for that matter. He lacks any class for starters.

He is a selfish, whiny, spoiled little girl who has only made the Laker franchise worse off by driving Shaq (and I am no Shaq fan) out of L.A. something of which will haunt him his entire career. Kobe has a reputation for alienating his teammates (and coaches) and does not make the team better; something the real NBA greats did. Basketball is a team sport as much as we celebrate the individual accomplisments.

Kobe Bryant is the best perimeter player in the game, and if he's not the top player in the world, he's in the top 3.

I agree; one of the best to play the game but that isn't saying too much these day's and not at all on the ever list. I can make a laundry list of better NBA players than Kobe and Lebron is the best player today.

And one more time for those of you that missed it; Kobe will never be Jordan. Jordan is head and shoulders above Kobe. Mentioning them in the same breadth is an insult to Mike.

Sometimes a thread feels like sucking vortex from which there is no escape.

I really don't know how I turned into the defender of all things Kobe. :)

I do not particularly like the Lakers or Kobe. :(

I just read a sports article this morning that predicted people would be bashing Kobe for scoring 81 points and then when I saw it happen here I thought it would be fun to share the article.

I did think it was a little odd to see the discussion turn into "Kobe should be in prison", but Terry and I have moved beyond that. :)

For the record, I am a Nets fan (being from Jersey) and Jason Kidd is my favorite player to watch.

Chris

Well, for the record. Michael Jordan is the best player ever, and probably will always be the best player ever. Kobe is in my opinion the most athletic and gifted player in the NBA right now. As a complete player, he is not the best. As an athlete, and scorer, he is the best. I will not compare him to Michael. Nobody should be compared to him. He was and for all intensive purposes will always be, the best.

I can dig it Chris

I think people (Me) bash Kobe even after 81 points is cause he's a *****. So when you find out the ***** does something great it's like BFD; good for her. Like Barry 'Balco' Bonds hitting homers; he's known to have such disdain for not only his fans but his own teammates its hard to commend him for his accomplishments.

I love J - Kidd by the way (can't condone the wife smacking. I understand it but can't condone it). I watched Kidd way back with Cal ! I think Kidd is one of the better players playing and would take him over KOBE in a second in my draft.

Did you know he has like 69 Triple Double's ?

I concur.

Intents and purposes...

Heh heh.. actually, I'm not sure what the correct term is. I used to think it was "intensive purposes", but, in recent years, I've noticed it being written everywhere else as "intents and purposes". I convinced myself that I had it wrong before, but now I'm not sure(?).
