KnowM2 Focus Screen Issues / Anyone About Glass One?

whats the agenda neuro?

No agenda. Just trying to get the best image and deal with issues that came with the unit. I will go in and try re-balancing the unit. I would like to be one of the satisfied customers that has a "whisper quite" unit.

Although Redrock spent a lot of RD on this, my technical instincts tell me that a thinner glass would be a better image plane.

If that was the case, you wouldnt have come on to these boards and complain about it. Emailing support and RedRock themselves seems a more sensable approach dont you think? This just seems to like anti RedRock slander to me. Please do make your own, but we dont need to read the same post 4 times by you.

The reason I use this board is to get feedback from other users. To learn from the larger collective of film enthusiasts. To present ideas that may lead to innovation.

I placed this query here to see if others where having similar issues. I also spoke of my skepticism about using plastic. This I think is a well founded point of inquiry. I would love to know what others think. There may even be an optical engineer in the crowd.

I did use Redrock for technical assist. They pointed out how to make adjustments. The fact that there is slop in the ground plastic spindle hole placed there deliberately leads me to surmise that the wheel was not made with exacting tolerances as one would expect for such a mission critical component.

I have been a technician for 37 years. I know how a balanced wheel should look. It does not come with slop in the middle to make adjustments. My guess is that the wheel is first cut out of sheet then etched, causing it to be unbalanced. The large spindle hole is where the adjustments are made. There are methods of balancing a wheel after the fact. It happens all the time in tire shops and machine shops.

I am sorry if you think I am trying to slay some sacred cow. Personally your response leads me to believe you have not read what I have written or you do not comprehend, or that you are just a cynic as your name implies.
