KNOWING (what it could have been)

Then I would recommend seeing this one if you get a chance. No release yet, as it is an indie looking for a deal.. But if it comes to your town, I would recommend it.

Hm. Went to the website. Definately looks like it was filmed on one of the mid-level HD cameras (EX or maybe even an HVX). Looks pretty cool. I didn't hear anything in the dialouge that sparked my interest, but that is one HECK of a review they got from Ain't It Cool, right?

I'll definately keep tabs on it. See what's the what.

Their website has a solid trailer:

Saw this over the weekend. I liked it, it kept me in suspense throughtout the whole thing and I think Nick Cage did a solid job. What I loved most about it was the ending...

Spoiler:

The fact that they actually show the world ending was pretty cool. You see lots of PG-13 movies where they talk about the world ending but they never actually show it and that's what did it for me for this movie.

Was very enjoyable.

End Spoiler:

By far I thought it had some of the best special FX I've seen in a film in a long time, especially that Plane sequence, that was a great sequence. And I had no idea it was shot on a RED until today when I read the posts on here. It looked amazing.

From what I remember...

- Cage puts his glass on the list of number, circling the most recognizable date. -- Now that is some coincidence

- His colleague at school dismisses the list saying that Cage is finding patterns on his own and the whole thing is
just a coincidence, even though the events occur in sequence. -- Sure you need a doubter, but this is just lame.

- The cop reacts to an airplane arriving from behind Cage (parallel to the road), yet the plane clearly crashes from
a perpendicular angle -- from that angle, it arrived from behind the cop, so huh, bad planning here.

- In a major plane crash, several people (some on fire) run out of the airplane. -- Very plausible.

- When the kid (I assume) dreams of everything on fire, we see many animals running while burning. -- Dream or not,
that was funny, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't supposed to be. It reminded of Mars Attack.

- I suppose the closing sequence implies that the two kids will repopulate another "earth". -- Holy jump'n gene pool Batman!

I did like some of the FX shots though. But overall, this was a silly, goofy and mostly boring film.

I like that they did this. Of all the moments, I think the airplane sequence caught me off guard because it felt the most real. That's what happens, you crash, chances are you will survive. In fact most people do. The way you die, however, is from the fire that spreads rapidly through the cabin.

Not completely. I caught it, but if you notice there are several ships that land all around the world and take off, and then several ships land in the background on the "new planet." Meaning there are several "adam and eve"s that were picked up. Still weak, but not as weak as hoping only two kids will repopulate a new planet.

Over-all the film was... okay. I think it could have been so much more, but it was missing something. I think the "aliens" thing was far too obvious, and I'm surprised people we're, well, surprised. I mean Cage is into this space stuff, it's his job, and he has this moment where he talks to his son about other life in the universe. Maybe as writers we know that nothing is there for no reason, so we caught on, but you'd think it would be obvious, no?

It had plot holes galore, like how did the aliens know about these events? I mean sure they're advanced, but they're psychic too? Why did they go through this long-winded plan to get these kids, when they could have gone about another simpler route. I mean what's the point of controlling these kids to write out this list of dates? What was the pattern even for in the end? Just to tell everyone "hey you're all about to die and there's nothing you can do. We're just going to mind control your kids into coming onto our ships, bye!"

C'mon!
