Kirby Puckett dies from a stroke

This makes me sad. I grew up watching and admiring him. It's all they've been talking about on the radio today.

No matter who your team is, Kirby Puckett was a CLASS ACT, and I for one am stunned and saddened at his passing.

When I liked baseball (before the 1994 strike), Kirby was the MAN. I think every little leaguer in Minnesota would have called him their favorite baseball player. I still remember vividly going to the Metrodome as a kid, and the way the announcer would go "KIIIIIRRRRRRBBBBBBY PUCKETTTTTT" every time he went to bat, and the crowd would just roar. The centerpiece player of a more innocent time in my life, I am very sad that he past. RIP Kirby

RIP 'Puck'

This cat retired with a career average of .318 (which speaks for itself.)
I always felt that Puckett had real integrity.
He was one hell of a ballplayer, and will be missed.

Certainly a class act, 6 seasons with over 200 hits, part of baseball history as a player on the Twins (only team in history to go from last place to world series champs within 2 years).

Shocking news... RIP

Just goes to show, if you're good enough at baseball, you can beat your wife and kids bloody and no one will care.

True that Hans...

I mean are you kidding me....?

Does anyone even know about Kirby Pucket and his women-beating antics? Hes a real shi*head from what Sports Illustrated says.....and i dont think they are lying. I used to like him when he was playing, but apon reading this article i cant think of him the same.

He sexually assulted a girl in a bar restroom and had all kinds of mistresses and was very unfaithful to his wife. And he died because he ballooned up to like 400 pounds because he refused to stop eating so damn much. He is dead because of the choices he made.

Heres a nice quote:

One day after he had retired, she told SI, they were together when Puckett said he had to leave to visit a sick child who was waiting to meet him.

“That’s great, you get to make that kid’s day,” Nygren told him. “That must make you feel good.” But she said Puckett just snapped back at her.

“I don’t give a s---,” he said. “It’s just another kid who’s sick.”

Class act indeed..........a real role model
