kinos tubes in cool lights?

Forgive me for asking a question that probably has been answered before. I own a six bank cool light. Just wondering if its possible to place kino flow tubes into the fixture? Will this work? I remember seeing someone post a threat about this but have been unable to find it.

Also say you can do that. Where is a good place in LA to purchase the tubes alone.

thanks

Im pretty sure the coollights and flolights will work with kino bulbs. They use standard 55w biax flo bulbs. Ask Richard from coollights on here first to make sure. He will get back to you quick.

hi pimp (again i mean that in the nicest way)

yes the kino tubes will work.

i have two 2foot 4 banks and have switched over to kino
tubes so the dop's know exactly what they can do.

had a bit of trouble at first but it turned out that the contacts
on the tubes were damaged. so they were replaced free of charge.

have not had any trouble since.

cheers

I've never tried it but in principal it should work. On a related note, I'm designing a retrofit quick release plate for the lollipop that you could easily install yourself. I'm not sure of when it will be out but should be nice for those that have to take off and put on very often. Probably will come in 3 pieces. 2 attach to the back of the flo unit and one attaches to the lollipop clamp. Then this allows the lollipop clamp to just easily attach/detach to/from the back of the flo quicker and without screwing in and out.

Hi Richard
got two questions
1. would you ever thinking of producing 4' long soft lights in the future or you're going to stick with your 2' version?
2. are you planning to make a hard case for soft lights?

Thanks

Berk

No you don't have to remove it but just be careful of course to not lay the unit down on that side as it would put undue pressure on the back skeleton part.

On the other questions.

Yes we've thought about producing the 4 foot models but it hasn't been at the top of the list because its just not been asked for all that much. One thing is I didn't find a good ballast yet for the T12 type lamps. Both the units I tried flickered so they weren't high output frequency as advertised and thus unusable for any pro fluorescent product.

On the hard cases, yes we've thought about that too, its just getting around the huge mold fee that I haven't been able to do. At some point, we would love to have hard cases though.

So, while we have lots of projects, some come to a stopping point where we don't give up but we just wait till a better solution presents itself. Sometimes we stumble across the solution unexpectedly and later.

In the meantime we work on other projects. Like LEDs for instance which so many are interested in right now...

I just wrote you if you can add me to the mailing list to let me know when this comes out so I can order them. Thanks
