Has anyone here looked into, or considered Kinonation? I couldn't find a single comment on it here. I like the idea of this model for VOD. If they can get it to work, it could work well to get your film out there. Then, of course all the marketing falls on you. But as far as distribution with modern technology, and looking into the future, I think the Kinonation guys may be on to something.

All thoughts welcome.

I think technology has gotten to the point where there are many digital platforms for streaming a movie to any device, home or mobile. It all comes down to the marketing and whether someone even knows the film exists, much less actually choose that one over another one. Subscription models are becoming more popular method of consumption, and I am not clear on how those revenue models look to the filmmaker. Marketing is not easy, and beyond the usual social media outlets gets expensive. ... Everybody wants their piece of the coin. ...

Cutting deals with folks that have the coverage actually makes things simpler and cheaper to get up and going. Last year just before I moved from Kelowna to Calgary I did a short project which was slid onto dvd and then tossed up a quick website to sell the thing. A cable/media provider called Shaw did a deal to market the dvd on their tv listings channel for a small % of sales. Its adding thousands to the bottom line every month and because its directly tied to sales, there's no way to go over budget for marketing. This is the site.
