Kinoflo TILE

I haven't seen this unit yet but it is another model that uses this color mixing technology and some kind of RGB LED or mix of different color LEDs. My research seems to be showing that this color mixing idea may indeed be the best way to go to get good color rendering. The drawback is that when you're using RGB LEDs to mix and get white for instance, you can't have the fixture too close to your subject as you can see the discrete colors. Backing the fixture off a ways will fix that and give a better or truer white.

Richard, I know what you mean. I was yestrday by the general importer of many brands and they showed me the Zylight and the Ianiro Led. And it's there.

However I think it's a smaller problem on a bigger surface softlight like the tile. And it has some kind of an integrated diffusor plate. It's also a little bigger than a litepanel. But I guess terribly expensive. It's maybe to early to adapt to LEDs currently.

I bought two used dedolights with daylight filters. The next thing I need is a daylight softbox. I don't like something that heats up everything, which is quick and I intend to adapt to LEDs further down the road.

Do you know some fluros that sell currently and are comparable to yours except kinoflo? I firstly also considered a product called birdcage from chimera, it comes with 500w halogen, but says it has a mogul base integrated, is this an ordinary european E27 socket or an american thing? If it's not I could use a fluro household lamps with 150w daylight in it.

A mogul base is also known as an E39 (in America) or an E40 (in Europe). There are slight differences between the two but bulbs of one type work in the other socket. This is a larger version of the E26 (America) or E27 (europe) household class "Edison" or medium socket.

The mogul base is very commonly used for many types of bulbs you'd want to use in a softbox: tungsten, metal halide and even fluorescent. Our own CL-SFT1 fixture uses a mogul base for instance as does our 200w 8U bulb. You'll see metal halide solutions too that could work in our CL-SFT1 or any fixture with a mogul base thats rated for HID start pulses.

While the TILE is appealing, I think the Litepanels 1x1 give more light output. However LPs don't enable color switching like this new Kino LED tech does
