I haven't used Kino's but I have a lot of experience with Videssence. There's no doubt their sales pitch is entrancing with all the talk of special power stuff RGB spectrum balancing blada, blah. I shot for a long while with a set of Videssence and then we had to switch out for Home Depot flourescent type fixtures due to budget. Yep, the color was different. So we white balanced the camera, then it looked the same. I'm sure that the Home Depot lights also take more time to stabilize on a color temp. For the cost difference we decided we can turn on the studio lights a half hour before every shoot.
The bottom line is that there is probably a difference but I couldn't see it (then again, $200 speaker wires don't sound any better to me than Home Depot 16GA at $.30 a foot!)
