Kino Tegras v Divas

I have a couple of Divas that I use quite a bit, mostly w/daylight tubes. I haven't used or seen the Tegras in action but I like the idea of being able to switch on each individual bulb. Is there any color shift with the Tegras? The Divas are notorious for color shift when dimming. I just go to two bulbs and back it off when I need less, but being able to dim would be nice.

I don't see any 2ft Tegras, do they only make the 4-banks?

Is the light quality higher with the Tegras than with the Divas. I like my Divas for portability and the built-in ballast but it always seems the 4-banks had nicer light.

Yeah, I like the light on the 4 banks better too. I have both. The Divas skew a little magenta. I haven't tried the Tegras but I'm sure the light is as good as the 4 banks.

The only advantage of a terga over a regular 4x4 I can imagine is the slightly faster set-up time. With the built-in ballast comes the loss of the flexibility you normally get like being able to remove the harness and reflector or being able to control the output of a fixture that's hung overhead from the ground.

I have a Tegra, It matchs the colors of the regular 4x4 lights. I think it still will shift magenta if you lower it too much but I never have really had a problem with it. The only neg I can say is it makes the unit a lot heaver then the normal 4x4.

Tony- Considering that weight of the Tegra, would you in hindsight stick with a standard 4' 4-bank?

Travis- The standard 4 bank ( non-Tegra ) can be an advantage when the light is rigged high up. You can still easily access the ballast to switch bulbs on or off. The trade off there is that it's not all one unit that easily pops into a case. But connecting the ballast isn't really much trouble and the ballast can easily be carried in the same case with the light bank. The thing that put me off from the Tegra is the price. Roughly $500 more than a standard bank of the same size and light output. By the time you purchase both daylight and tungsten bulbs plus some accessories the Tegra can be pricey, costing you around $2400.00 in total.
