Kino extension repair?

I need to replace one of the locking rings on a Kino Flo extension. Has anyone here done the repair? Is it any more complex than simply taking the housing/shell apart and slipping the replacement ring over the connector pins?

I truly love these lights and the fact we can purchase repair parts...

Wish I had experience. Are you talking about the locking ring on the fixture end of the head feeder cable? I've got a missing one too and just push the connectors together, drape the cable over something for strain relief and it works but I'd like to fix it properly. I'll keep an eye on the thread.

You're talking about the ring that you use to lock the cable into the ballast, right? If so, it's very very simple.

Step 1. Take the replacement ring and place it on the end of the cable

Step 2. Push really hard!

Sucess!

I just changed 4 locking collars from a flathead 80. It was much easier than anticipated.

I slowly pried the locking collar with a slot head screwdriver (direction from the outside towards in) until one of the teeth that keep the collar in place came out of the grooved track that encircles the body of the plug. I was then able to remove the remainder with thumb pressure alone. The new collar I placed in position and popped it in place with my fingers. I did the same for the 2 ballasts.

Part number was: PRT-CR4 4bank/mega Double Connector Locking Ring

Cheers,

Roderick
