Kino Diva400 bulbs acting up?

My Diva400 has only a few hours of life on it, but two tungstan tubes wouldn't fire the last time I took it on a shoot. I made sure it was the bulbs and not the fixture, then replaced with new bulbs. I noticed upon turning the lights back on that one of the new bulbs had a delay of a few seconds before turning on. It glows only at one end, a 1 inch section, for about one second, and then the whole bulb turns on and looks to be normal brightness and temperature.

When I began shooting again, I noticed that for the first 5 min or so that the light is on, there's a noticeable magenta tone to my subjects, but then it goes away.

Has anyone experienced any of these issues? Curious if this is a Diva400 issue or just bad bulbs?

Divas need a some time to warm up before the light stabilizes, so I usually turn them on at least 5 minutes before rolling,

Are you sure your tungsten tubes were fully seated? They're often a bit out-of-place, especially after transport, & due to how they're wired, if even one tube is out-of-place, or damaged, two tubes will not light.

Best,
Bern

thanks Bern... didn't know they needed to warm up, guess that makes sense as industrial flo lights need the same warm up time.
very sure they were fully seated. no matter where I placed them they didnt work when other bulbs would.

any thoughts on the one bulb that partially lights up and then goes full? curious if I can take it back to the store for replacement.

That sounds like perfectly normal behavior for some fluorescent tubes to me. I would only return it if it fails to light absolutely after a few minutes.

Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescent_lamp -- I learned a lot from reading that article, although little of it relates to movie lighting specifically.

Iv'e seen that many times.

Are you rigging the light vertically with the base of the bulbs at the top, as Kino Flo recommends? I usually warm them up that way, but rig them horizontally as needed.
