KING KONG

J.R. Hudson

Spirit Animal
Apparently this site just launched.  If this thing is even near the scope of the LOTR Trilogy then Im game.  I do have trouble imagining Jack Black in this though.

EDIT

There are some 'behind the scenes' video diaries up for Day 1 and Day 4 of the shoot.  And regarding what I said about Jack Black I might already have changed my mind (you'll see). And is Peter Jackson laying off the donuts?

Re: KING KONG

At first I wasn't sure how I felt about this. Now I'm actually kind of excited.

Re: KING KONG

John,

I was thinking the same thing about Peter Jackson.  When I first saw the pictures I immediately thought damn he lost some weight.  Good for him.

I think Jack Black would be a great addition to the cast.

Re: KING KONG

i think its cool that he is making that doc and putting it up on the web while they shoot. so awesome, i wish more films were as open as that.

Re: KING KONG

I can't wait to see if Jack Black can take on a serious role. I actually think he can do it. it will prolly change his career where we will see him in more serious roles.

Re: KING KONG

Peter Jackson should have been that light for LOTR so he could have moved to different units faster. :)

Re: KING KONG

Hah! That was great. I agree with Rich, I wish more movies would do stuff like this.

Re: KING KONG

I love Naomi Watts. did not know she'd be in this movie.

must add this.. and I know I'm probably speaking too soon, but this website doesn't show the grandness of their production as much as starwars does in their webdocs-which by the way for episode 3... are the best video pieces I've seen all year long. I learn so much just by watching how they edit those mini segments.
Maybe it'll get better but the very first one was kinda like.. eh...
maybe it's good that PJ doesn't blow everything up so he can blow us away when the movie comes out.

Re: KING KONG

"I couldn't stand the thought of filming on the ocean, so we built huge green screens are will just add the sky and ocean later."

Peter Jackson using CG effects? NEVER! ;)

Re: KING KONG

Man,
Peter Jackson lost major weight!
I have a feeling that Jack Black is going to be awesome.

Re: KING KONG

It looks like many folks kind of had the same reaction I did to the news that PJ was going to do King Kong as his follow-on to LOTR.

My thought was, 'He could do ANYTHING he wants, and he chose THAT?!'

After looking through some of the behind the scenes stuff at the kongisking.net site, I guess I'm probably going to see the movie. Pete's convinced me that it will be a treat.

Jack Black? It will be interesting to see how he does in this one. I like that actor/comedian.

Re: KING KONG

Oh, the other point I was going to make is that it is obvious from the video blog that Peter Jackson is just doing what he loves. It looks to me like the Shiresfull of money he made on LOTR hasn't ruined his personality, unlike certain other uber-Directors I shall not name, but who Sucketh.

:D
