Kids and screenwriting ?

I have a 13 year old niece wanting to try writing a short screenplay, maybe collaboratively with me, or at least I would help guide her. I found a website once I remember that was designed to teach kids how to write screenplay, but I can't find that site via googling. If anybody has any leads on a website to help young teens learn screenwriting please do tell, share. I will keep looking, if I find the site I will share it here. ~randall

Why do you need one specifically to teach teenagers? Do the rules of good story telling change?

I think working with you niece would be a good idea anyway, it is always good to have a mentor. Plus, you never know, you might be able to pull off a Thirteen type script which launched the teenage writer's and the directors career.

It was an actual website I recall, maybe geared towards filmmaking for kids but had a great section on script writing. Still, that pdf at your link is really nice and I am going to share it with her (and keep a copy for myself!). Thanks!

Randall. Several months back I came across a workbook pdf on the internet called, A Crash Course in Screenwriting, by David Griffith--specifically written for 16-21 year olds. That's what it says on the 2nd page, at least.

Here it is:

Tell me if this is the one that you remember.

Thanks,

Kyle

I suppose for the same reason there are shelves labeled Teen Fiction at Barnes and Noble, i.e. the writing style to interest teens is best if different from that for adults, even if the content they are learning is the same. Also a lower fog index, teen jargon and buzz words, teen subjects for filming, etc. Damn I am on a quest now, I just have to find that website!
