Ki-Ki vs Ebay

Just blew 120 quid on Ebay for a Zoom H2.

It's coming from America so It's gonna have an American AC Adapter, and so if i try to use it i'll prob burn my hair off or my wall will explode.

It hasn't got that fluffy, little, sheep skin style thing you put over a mic either. So that's gonna bea n issue, probably gonna spend more money trying to find those items to be able to use it.

Anyone ever cocked up on ebay and bought something they didnt want, bought a hooker, waste money etc?

I always buy things I don't want on eBay, have spent enough on hookers to put one of them through college (..is there a hooker college anyways?) & waste money on a daily basis!

So welcome to the club...

How much is that H2 in American KiKi? (I made sure I specified WHAT I was inquiring about, just to make sure he didn't give me a quote on that Hooker ;)

Just curious about the price, because B&H sells the H4 for $295. I never paid much attention to currency conversion, mostly because I can't make that L with the squiggly lines :)

Ki-Ki, I would try to cancel the order, and look into getting a Zoom H4. I's not that much more expensive, but it does do more, and comes with a wind guard, runs on 2 1.5 volt AA batteries and woth only the batteries power a phantom mic.

If the guy selling it is also selling the H4, he may let you simply upgrade. Aren't there converters out there like a UK version of Radio Shack that will let you take your electric and down it to American?

And if any of you are wondering what the hell he's on about. Let me explain.

I just posted my 1000th post and then deleted it, to reserve a post in the Timefest section, so now this is my original reply to you all. Sorry for deleting it =)

Yeah i'm pretty much feeling suicidal at the moment. The H4 is;
  • 35 pound more (1/4 the price more..ish)
  • Operates on batterys (Which would have been great for my Timefest film since we're shooting so far out)
  • Comes with the wind guard
  • Comes with 2GB card
  • Looks more modern <3
Fact is I just don't have another 35 quid to pay into the bank account to upgrade anyway. Struggling to rake in some props as it is. Though with film, like anything I guess. The problem is when you find an item, and you think its great, theres always one for slightly more price which is slightly more better.

Like when you go to the Cinema

Hot Girl
Would you like coke with that?
Ugly Grandad
Ooph, Flirtatious, but no I'm fine
Hot Girl
But for 35p more, you can get a large one!
Ugly Grandad
You making fun of me? Yeah okay, go on then..
Hot Girl
Oh.. now, If you pay another quid you can have Extra Large Coke, Extra Large Popcorn & A hotdog..
(Beat)
Ugly Grandad
Just give me my bloody food.
[ For those of you which want to know, yes, the Grandad does miss the film ]

Think you get the idea.. but basically as much as I'd love to. I'm just gonna have to settle for the H2 at the moment and aquire a Wind Guard & Power Convertor thing seperatly.

By the way Matt, yeah great one. Just realised, there's a Radio Shack in town. Not sure if It's an American store or something. But yeah there's definitly one here, I'll go down and take the H2 with me when it comes. Thank's =)

The Zoom H2 runs on 2 AA batteries, comes with a bunch of accessories: foam windscreen, 512MB SD card, desktop stand, mic clip adapter, earbuds, USB cable, AC adapter & Stereo "Y" cable. It has 4 built-in mics that allow 90-degree cardioid, 120-degree cardioid & 4-track surround. It sells for $199.00 USD new.

I picked one of these up awhile back and it really is a nice unit. You can get some great quality recording with it. Up to 16bit or 24bit / 44.1kHz - 96kHz .wav's or 64kbps - 320kbps MP3's! It's very flexable and fit in the palm of your hand. Just be careful about the handling noice...if you can avoid touching it while recording you'll get a much better result.

Can't beat it for the price.

Thank's for the stat's there, makes me feel alot better about buying one now. Don't regret it really. Looking forward to getting my sexy looking package delivered early one frosty morning now. It will be like christmas. =)

Frosty? Where do you live, the Arctic Circle? Christ! It's April! --- Just kidding, actually, I mean it really is April, but it is unusually cold for this time of year. Up in these mountains we are still in the 30's in the mornings (about 0 - 5 Celcius)

So much for global warming...

Actually, that sounds more like what I was wanting to buy in the first place. The H4 is also a 4 track recorder, which I don't want or need. Had I known about the H2, I could have saved myself some money and invested that in a better mic. The 4 track surround would have been very nice to play with in itself.

*sighs*

Oh right, cheers mate. I will in the future, had no idea about the customs and tax stuff.

Though I must admit, I did by something electrical at a Car Boot Sale once.. I had a nice electric shock =)

& Penguin, this is the UK. The day It'll get aboive 5 degree's is the day the world will end. We get misty mornings with frost on the cars etc quite alot.

The guy said he's sending my h2 today. (smiley face)
