Keying Animation

I need to figure out how to key the animation over video. Basically I just want to remove the black, and just have the animation. How do I do this?

You can do a luma key so anything not pure black will be keyed. You'll have to tweak the fall off so the grays and edges don't get too sharp.
If you have an Unmultiply you can try that.

If you create your own animation always render with an alpha.

Thanks! Yes this was produced a couple of years ago so I do not know why it did not have an alpha channel.
