Keyframing Opacity

I want to keyframe the opacity of a transition. It is actually just a transition to black, but i want to be able to see about 25 % of the video and hold on that. I know some one out there knows how Please share! Thanks

Split the clip at the point at which you want the transition to begin. Lower the new second clip's opacity to 25%. Then, drag the original clip over as far as you want the transition to last.

And, after this, at least five people will tell you five different ways to do it.

Thanks that worked, while I was waiting for a response ( which was very fast thanks) I saw that you could add transitions and keyframe in the transition window. I tried this but the keyframes didn't seem to work.

You can also add the Transition Envelope by right clicking the transitioned area and choosing Insert Envelope>transition envelope.

To add a third method to the mix, in this case using the Composite Envelope should have worked as well. Great thing about Vegas - often many ways to accomplish the same task.
