I'm wondering if there is a keyboard shortcut for making cuts at the playhead with out having to use the mouse.

It's version 5 but it should be close.

What is a ripple cut?

A ripple is collapsing the timeline with your cut. So if you cut a section in the middle of you timeline, everything after that will move forward, collapsing, and closing up the gap. One thing I cant figure out is how to turn it off. My system does it automatically.
