keyboard delete key BUMPS the whole timeline!

is there a way to disable the "handy" feature of the delete key bumping your time line for you? :

I find it quicker to high light a clip and press the delete key then right click and use cut in the menu - but using cut is the only sure way for it not to bump my sequence out of sinc. using delete doesn't always bump the sequence out of sinc, but it happens often enough that I can't stnd using it.

Use the del key or the delete key. One slides and one lifts. I always forget which is which.

the delete key above the Return key will not bump it out of sync. the delete key the the right of the return key will.

thanks for the replies; it is the "forward delete" feature that I HATE - and when I went to change it in my CUSTOM key layout, it says "that feature is permanently locked to that key" and won't allow it to be changed... go figure - I can't change the one key comand I hate the most...
what are the odds...? : :'(
