Hey guys,

I did a quick video tutorial for the new SmartLapse feature for the Oracle Controllers by Kessler Crane. This system allows you to do complicated 3-axis-movements very easily for timelapse and in Live mode.

Check it out here:

Enjoy!

I'm a huge Kessler fan myself, they are one of our sponsors on our latest project and make some amazing equipment. I've been thinking about purchasing the oracle stuff from them to do stuff just like this. Going to start with 1 controller first.

One question I had, does the controller move continuously or in steps?

Do you mean the slider cart? Well in SmartLapse mode, when recording, the movement is a bit choppy, pulsing. But that doesn't really matter when you do a timelapse, because then, you don't see any pulsing anymore. It IS pulsing, but not really visible. In live mode, the move is continous.

Okay, gotcha, yeah my question was about live mode. At first I was trying to figure out how you synced the intervalometer to the movements, but being continuous, that isn't necessary. Given that probably introduces a tiny bit of motion blur depending on the lens and the speed, that must make some smooth footage!

Only thing I can say is I wish you'd actually put a video at the end of what you shot :) Just to show what that kind of setup produces that you did.
