Kata .vs Portabrace

Anyone have information on which is the better way to go to protect the HVX from the general elements? (hard rain not withstanding)

I've been looking at the Portabrace CBA-HVX200 and Kata's DVG-51. I'm not sure which way I should go so I'm looking for some input.

Thanks.

Kata DVG is not a rain slicker. It is more for dust and general bumps and knocks. I have one. It provides great protection but even Kata says it is not for rain.

i dont think EITHER of them looks too water resistant. have you watched deadliest catch or dirty jobs on discovery. those guys are mainly using heavy duty garbage bags

Are you speculating, or do you know that for sure? I would not trust a camera to a garbage bag on a small vessel in the Bering Sea. For that type of work, I would use nothing less than a EWA Marine soft housing.

Having said that, I have a Petrol rain slicker for my HVX, it would do a good job on rain but less so with dust -- dust can easily travel upwards. There is an old thread with pictures HERE.

Thanks guys,

I guess I should have been a little more clear than "general elements". By this I meant day to day keep the dust off, scratch prevention and light rain (the spitting kind, not an actual shower). I think that portabrace is touting it will handle rain but it looks kind of awkward... anyone using it or seen it in action?
