Kamio vs Other On-Camera Lights

I've got a gig in exactly seven days that I need an on camera light for to do some ENG style work.

I came across Kino-Flo's Kamio light a few weeks back and LOVE the concept, but it's a bit pricey and I'm unsure as to how I would power it (it looks like I would have to buy a battery pack system). Also mounting it to the lens seems to be an issue. Anyone have experience or advice.

What else is there in a ring style light out there in the $1k range that looks professional?

If I'm going to go for a more traditional , shoe mount style singe light just to get by then what's the most cost effective option?

Thanks in advance!

First off I wouldnt say a ring light is what you would use typically for basic ENG shooting.

Batteries, belts etc etc etc to power an on cam light - Im tired of it.

I ordered a new light to try this week. Its a LED light called Xlite 3 - I have no idea how good it is, just that its very low battery output and can plug straight into the power tap on any gold mount AB plate or v mount IDX plate.

But bow I realise I am talking crap because this is HVX thread.

You should try the vidled. Light, low power consumption. http://vidled.com/products.html

Or, try this:

Buy the accessory wide angle diffusion besel and you are set.

The battery powers both your camera and the light, and it gave me 7 + hours of uninterrupted shooting. The light comes with 4 sets of gels to suit your lighting condition. Remember, too, to get the right cable to power your camera.

The whole system: battery, charger, and light is a bit over $ 500.

If you do hand-held shooting, you will get tired very quickly with the additional weight, so some kind of support system is required. I used it with the Multirig Pro. You can, of course mount it on your tripod, too.
