K-tek shockmount on camera ???

I am in the middle of purchasing a dvx-100a, the Sanken cs-1 shotgun mic, and the K-tek k-ssm shockmount for on camera mounting of the cs-1 mic.

I would like to mount the shockmount/mic in the mic mount area instead of having to take up the hotshoe-type mount on the top of the cam if possible. K-tek seems to make small adapters for other cams like Canon and Sony that are specifically for this situation but what will work with the dvx-100a?

Does anyone else use this type of on-camera audio set up? How's it working for you?

I use the K-SSM with an Audio Technica AT4073a on my DVX100A. However, I used the hotshoe adaptor from a cheap Beyerdynamic shockmount to mount the standard K-SSM to the hotshoe. This works well and allows me to use an Equalizer over the mic. I've seen the K-TEK adaptor mount that attaches to the microphone mount included with the dvx100a. The version I saw (Canon?) was a bit too big in diameter to fit into the standard mic mount with the pads in place. I liked centering the mic over the camera (balance), so I made the hotshoe version work rather than getting the adaptor to work. The K-SSM is an excellent mount--I think you'll like it. But if memory serves, you need a 21-22mm adaptor for the DVX100a stock mic mount. The K-TEK I tried was 25mm, which would require modification of the stock pads.

Is the DVX mic mount really decent enough to justify putting a $300 shotgun and a $115 mount in? I'll nab the K-SM for my AT897 if the mount isn't going to snap off or cause excessive noise...

Right, it fits well, but it's not exactly isolated from camera handling noise, and it's also a bit low to use a furry windscreen on. The mount seems sturdy, but I don't think it'll work well with the k-tek just because it moves around a lot... I wonder if there's a mount you can screw into the holes that the stock DVX mount screws into?
