A Kickstarter campaign for an anamorphic attachment for smartphone cameras had a goal of $50,000.

Not only did it meet that goal of $50k but to date has raised $1,107,315. Apparently a lot of people are wanting an anamorphic adapter for their phone cameras. To the tune of 20x what the creators were seeking. An impressive amount. Especially considering that there is already an anamorphic attachment for smartphones that has been out a couple of years. Maybe this anamorphic adapter is more impressive and promising? ( the company pairs it with a battery back, it should be noted. So maybe that is part of the appeal. )

A testament to the intensity of the love affair with anamorphic that many have. Over a million dollars.

Or the love affair they have with both showing they're shooting anamorphic and being seen as shooting anamorphic i.e. it succeeded because it's cool, the actual results are unimportant.

Pretty remarkable either way you look at it.
 
BeastGrip has an adapter on the market, also Moondog Labs has an adapter on the market. The attraction is probably to get it under $150.
