K-3 lens compatibility

my mem-mem is getting me a Krasnogorsk 3, 16mm film camera for Christmas which comes with the standard Meteor zoom lens and as a bonus 2 telephoto lenses which supposedly fit it.

I've heard the phrase screw mount thrown around but as I am rather new to lens compatibility I really only know what a bayonet mount is from shooting with my Pentax K1000 still camera.

My question to you advocates of the K-3 is: What should I look for in a lens which will mount to my K-3. I don't remember from where but I heard that certain still camera lenses are actually compatible with the K-3 but this to me seems too good to be true. I'm looking for phrases and key descriptors that I should look for when shopping for my K-3.

Thank you!

Depends on which version of the K-3 you're getting. The earlier K-3's had a bayonet-mount lens (same Meteor lens, but with a bayonet mount on it). You don't want that one. You want the one with the Pentax/M42 screw-mount lens.

If you get that one, then you can use just about any screw-mount lens made (except Pentax SMC Takumars -- don't even try it! You can use Super Takumars, but not Super Multi Coated Takumars, they changed the lens mount and if you try putting one of those on you'll end up not being able to remove it.)

The Pentax Super Takumars were great lenses for their days, and the Zeiss Jena M42 lenses are amazingly good for the price. Build quality, not so much, but optical quality is great.
