JVC GC-PX1; 1920x1080 60p • 36Mbps >300 fps VGA> 6MP/60 fps

the 4k camera looks like the old hd1- memories of that camera probably give jvc engineers nightmares - again they were first out the hd gate but slipped on the banana

Those guys are crazy, instead of growing pixel numbers, why can we just have good 1080p on video ( no moire, no aliasing, good low light performance, more dynamic range, etc.) My 0.2 cents.

That may work to some extent in still photography, but I don't think it will fly with video imho. The computing resources to deal with 4k are quite heavy and comsumer footage is very compressed. Also there is no playback medium. Blu-ray is just kind of out there and has not taken a foothold. Seriously, DVD is still the go to medium for normal people.

To echo GioCanales, all marketing principles aside, rather than monkeying around with stuff on the fringe, why can't JVC delivery better for exisiting mediums? I know I do not want a 4k camera. So if this is leading up to a "pro" 4k camera it is s waste imho.

[end rant]

There is no medium for consumer 3D cameras (stills or video) either.... but they are selling by the bucketload in Japan... why? because consumers are buying 3D TVs and can shoot with their 3D cameras and have some fun... The SD card is now the "playback medium"... consumers don't care about editing, grading etc... they didn't with their VHS camcorders, nothing has changed.

As I said earlier.... JVC will launch a 4KTV and will want to be able to offer a 4K camera so consumers can start wowing people with their new purchases.
